Favourite footballers, past and present

As i'm quite bored before i go to play football myself, I thought i would list who i consider to be my favourite footballers. I've compiled the list with footballers from my lifetime, and who i remember watching, which obviously rules out some of the greats.

As a United supporter, it would be easy to list all current and former players, so i've refrained from doing that. The list has been generated with players I like, simply because of their ability, who they are, what they've done or even performance on certain video games... so here goes.

Past

Higuita - Colombian goalkeeper, simply because of his performance in the 94 World Cup, acting as a go-between for cocaine smugglers, being kidnapped and doing a scorpian kick against England.

Weah - Goal machine in Italy, not so good at Chelsea. Scored a wonder goal from the halfway line for Milan. Claimed an African team would win the World Cup by 2014.... looks unlikely.

Valderrama - Colombian midfielder who had the most recognizable hair of his generation.

Batistuta - 'Batigol' - my best memory of him unfortunatley is him scoring a blistering effort for Fiorentina against United's Mark Bosnich. He did score a lot of other goals though. His performances in International Superstar Soccer for the Nintendo under the alias of 'Fuerte', were nothing short of sensational.

Bebeto - Brazilian forward who formed a lethal partenership with Romario in 94. Known widely for a Bebeto volley and his cradle celebration, which almost everyone decided to re-create in school.

Ibrahim Ba - French international who was black and had white hair and looked like a pint of Guiness. A midfield Djibril Cisse of his day.

Solskjaer - Scored winning goal in European cup final in 99 along with many others.

Cantona - Favourite player ever. Legend.

Present

Eto'o - Cameroon striker, favourite non-united player. Goal scorer who's broke many records. Enjoyed watching him at Mallorca, Barcelona and now Inter.

Engelaar - Dutch midfielder who in Euro 2008 ran proceedings. Big and makes tackles and passes easily. Plays at PSV.

Chiellini - Juventus centre back. Lifts people for fun. Certainly a 'no-nonsense' player.

Jay Bothroyd - Basically for his free kixks and the time he got sent off for Blackburn against Norwich for turning round and bootin some guy.

Darren Moore - Barnsley centre back. Awful player but his defending is comedy gold.

Simeon Jackson - Plays for Canada and Gillingham. Like a Defoe type player and scores some wonder goals in League 1.

Torbinski - Russian left winger I saw in Euro 2008 and he looked class when he was playing. Scored against Holland and plays for Locomotive Moscow.

Iniesta - Could have picked Xavi as well, but Iniesta is a better dribbler of the ball, and can control a game so easily.

Hernanes - Brazilian midfielder at Sao Paulo. Seen him in the Olympics and he was immense, but haven't seen much of him since. Tipped for a move to Europe and hoping he makes Brazil's World Cup squad.

Mohammed Idrossu - Cameroon centre forward and i only like him because of his epic partnership with Eto'o in pro evolution soccer, and his severe aerial presence.

Pato - Seen him at Internacionale in Brazil and he was a different class. Only 20, will be one of the best players in the world in a few years.

Ronaldo - As in Brazilian 'fat' Ronaldo. His goalscoring record for club and country is sublime. A fully fit and in form Ronaldo is probably the best player I've seen in my generation. Still bangin them in for Corinthians.

I'm sure there's quite a lot I've left out and just forgot about really. But at the minute I think It's a pretty good list.
